Born and raised on F Street in Sparrows Point, John passed away this week at John’s Hopkins Bayview on July 5th following complications with kidney dialysis. He is survived by his wife Marie (Hilton) Mason his wife of 64 years, and sons John and Marty Mason and their families.
John graduated from Sparrows Point HS in 1945 where he met his life-long companion, Marie Hilton also of 7th St. in Sparrows Point, and immediately joined the US Marine Corps. Together they raised their family of 2 sons, 4 grand-children and 4 great-grandchildren while John worked for 30 years at Bethlehem Steel and after retirement, continued to work and support church and community activities.
Always involved in helping with youth organizations like Little League and DeMolay, John was also an enthusiastic and active member of the Dundalk United Methodist Church. He was also involved with the Dundalk Masonic Lodge, and participated in many years of supporting local charities and following the college-life and careers of his 4 grand-children, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Son John and wife Chris (Duni) Mason, with their children Kim Quadrini and Johnny Mason of Baltimore, and son Marty and wife Debbie (Krueger) Mason of Aptos, CA - with their children Katie N. Dombrowski and Colin Mason of Aptos, CA survive him, along with 4 Great-Grandchildren Nolan and Anna Quadrini (Kim), and Ethan and Zoe Mason (Johnny).
John and Marie made many joyful vacation trips with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to participate in birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, weddings and played a role in the lives of all their family members.
Lately they had cruised to Panama, and visited Sonoma Valley CA for Katie’s wedding to Erik Dombrowski. They also hit the beach in Ocean City most every year to enjoy the summer with kids – and supported the Orioles and loved watching the Ravens beat the Niners.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday 3-5 & 7-9 PM.
Funeral service Thursday 10AM.
Interment Oak Lawn Cemetery.
