Charles P. Holston

– On June 25, 2014 CHARLES PERCY HOLSTON, 87, beloved husband of the late Veronica Holston (nee Hartman), passed away at Emeritus in Edgewood, Kentucky. A lifelong resident of Baltimore, Md., he was the devoted son of Percy and Marie Holston; and loving brother of Darrell, Warren, Raymond, and Carl Holston. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents and brothers. He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Margaret Hartman Wilms, Patricia and Vivian Holston, and several loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Holston served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and worked for the Patapsco & Back River Railroad for 35 years, retiring in 1980. He is well known in the Baltimore sports community as a player and coach, receiving numerous awards and honors for his commitment to local athletes. From 1980-2003, Mr. Holston coached the Lions Women’s Fast-pitch Softball team for Dundalk DBCC. Most recently, in December 2013, Mr. Holston was inducted into the CCBC Athletics Hall of Fame. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to visit Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, from 7pm to 9pm on Monday, June 30. Funeral services will be held on July 1 at 10am. Interment at St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Memorials: Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40504 or the American Heart Association.
