Richard Louis Dorff July 18, 1926 , born in Cleveland Ohio, resided in Dundalk, Maryland. Richard had many careers in his lifetime; bicycle mail carrier. tile installer and machinist. He volunteered to join the Navy in 1943 at the age of 17. He served aboard the USS Texas and operated a landing craft during the D-Day invasion of Normandy. General Eisenhower visited the ship just prior to the start of the beach landings. Richard was known for being a faithful employee for over 30 years with Westinghouse as a Tool & Dye Engineer. During his time with Westinghouse he developed the cameras for the Apollo Lunar Explorations. His favorite hobbies included Duck Pin Bowling and golf. He was in charge of the amateur golf league at Westinghouse and served as a Marshall for many local golf tournaments.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Elva Mae Dorff and one brother, Donald Dorff.
He leaves behind two daughters; Lynn G. Spangler (husband James) and Sue D. McLaughlin (husband Stark), Paul Harrison (wife Julie), Shari Harrison, Nathan L. McLaughlin (wife Jennifer) and April M. Rodgers (husband Zeke) and six great grandchildren; Jordan Harrison, Thora McLaughlin, Edith McLaughlin, Maloria Rodgers, Corleyann Rodgers and Mack Rodgers. Also brothers Bernard, Charles and Earl Dorff.
Visitation with family will be on Friday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the CONNELLY FUNERAL HOME of DUNDALK, 7110 Sollers Point Road. A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 Noon from the funeral home. Interment will be at the Garden of Faith Cemetery, Rosedale.
