Reverend Terry L. Holmes, 59, returned to his heavenly home on May 27, 2015 after a courageous battle of FTD and ALS. He died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family. His firm belief in God and devotion to his family supported him in his struggles and ultimately gave him peace.
Terry was born to the late Walter and Marjorie Holmes, in Caribou, ME on April 13, 1956. He was raised in a Godly home with a love and talent for music. Terry and siblings with their father broadcasted on the radio when he was a teenager and they were called the “Sunshine Boys”. Terry played the guitar, trumpet and had a love for singing.
Terry was called into the ministry in the fall of 1980 and he moved his family from New Brunswick, Canada to Hollidaysburg, PA where he attended Manahath School of Theology and received his degree in Pastoral Studies. Terry was a Pastor for 30 years where he ministered at Smith Corner Mennonite Church, East Freedom, PA; Altoona Evangelical Independent Methodist Church, Altoona, PA; and Victory Villa Community Church, Middle River, MD. Terry was a Pastor of the Evangelical Methodist Conference and was on the executive committee of the American Council of Christian Churches. He retired from the ministry June of 2014 due to illness. Terry was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dundalk, MD.
Terry is survived by his wife, Connie married 39 years; his daughter Amanda, his son Jeramie; and his siblings Randy, Timothy, Richard, Ralph, Daniel, Peter, Wanda St. Peter, and Christopher; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation with family will be on Saturday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the CONNELLY FUNERAL HOME in Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road, Dundalk, MD 21222. A funeral Service will be held on SUNDAY at 2:00 PM at the Calvary Baptist Church in Dundalk, 7321 Manchester Road, Dundalk, MD 21222 with Pastor ShifIett. Interment will be private.
