Visitation will begin at 1:00pm. FALLSTON, MD – Leroy (Buddy) Dieter, VP of Sales for Haulotte Group, NA. died November 13 at his home, with his wife Marybeth by his side. He was 58. Buddy, last known for his service at Haulotte Group, NA was a 37-year veteran in the Rental and AWP industry. He played a major role in the growth of sales during his time with the company, as well as transitioning the North America distribution headquarters to Virginia Beach, VA. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Buddy’s career began at a young age as an auto mechanic. He realized quickly he had a gift to fix and maintain equipment. His passion for this continued and was hired as a shoptech at Freestate Industries in the late 1970’s. While there his dedication escalated him to higher level management positions in both service and sales. He later held positions at Modern Highlift and Chesapeake Highlift. From there he, and a business partner, started Lift Inc. This became a successful AWP business and eventually was acquired by United Rentals. At United Rentals, Buddy held positions as a District Manager and Regional Vice President. Buddy joined Haulotte Group in 2013. Buddy was highly respected in the AWP and rental industry by customers, co-workers and competitors. He always put others before himself and will be greatly missed. Buddy/”Gibbs” was a visionary and an inspiration to his family, friends, and associates. He was a giant of a man with a big caring heart. While he spent much time on the road, he always knew that family and friends needed to come first. You would often find Buddy searching out those extra special items to surprise his family or close friends with, whether it be certain candies, a particular cheesecake, or a hard to find brand of vodka. I know he was as happy to give those little gifts as we were to receive them! There are many, many wonderful memories of how Buddy/”Gibbs” did those extra special things for those close to him - - these memories will be sure to bring a smile to each of us whenever we think of him. He had a way of showing he cared by reminding his support team to make sure they called their loved ones while on long road trips. He was driven to help make things better by often going above and beyond, and leading by example. He would frequently inquire about the health and safety of those close to him. Having Buddy as your friend you knew you could always depend on him at any time, be it day, night, or weekends, no matter what the challenges were, he was there. Even in his passing Buddy remains inspirational in helping us all remember the important things in life, and how quickly they can slip by if we do not take the time to appreciate them in the moment. Buddy is survived by his wife, Marybeth, their children, Nick, Joe, Christine, Lucas, Madison, Max, grandchildren Nicholas and Landon.
