On June 30th 2016 Albert T. Bean at the age of seventy-one passed away after a hard fight with prolonged illness. Up until the age of twelve Mr. Bean moved all over Baltimore his mother(Lydia Webster) bought a house and made Dundalk their home. He was a member of New Light Lutheran Church (St. Timothy’s Eve. Lutheran Church ) on Willow Spring for almost fifty years. He was also a proud graduate of Dundalk High School in 1963. While celebrating his twenty-first birthday with his step-father (Harvey Webster) at Dundalk Post 38 American Legion Hall, God put him on a path to find his one true love… A husband and wife were there and thought he would make an excellent date for their MICA college aged daughter. They convinced Mr. Bean come to their house and meet her.(What can I say it was a simpler time…this is what we call the MEQUE) He saw her in the back yard of that tiny Yorkway home in a sweatshirt covered in paint and pigtails and the light shining on her face and it was love at first sight for Mr. Bean. That woman became his lifelong best friend and devoted wife for forty-six years. They bought a small row home in old Dundalk two blocks from the park and raised their one son. Mr. Bean is survived by his wife Shirley (Penland) Bean and their son Brett Bean.
Mr. Bean was a printer and supervisor of the Weant Press for thirty years and after the company closed he work twelve years at other printing companies.
Mr. Bean had many hobbies the biggest was his family. He loved art and history museums. He was a photographer, painter, costume maker, baseball coach (that one not so good at) but he tried hard to make sure the young men had a good time and were good sports. You see whatever things his son was into Mr. Bean jumped in and gave 110% to make sure his son had fun and joy doing it.
In 1987 he joined Freemasonry as a proud member of Patapsco Lodge 183 AF&AM in Dundalk. That same year he became the chapter “Dad” advisor of Dundalk Chapter Order of DeMolay , a young men’s group sponsored by the lodge. This is where he found his true calling working with the young men of the chapter teaching them hard work and what it meant to be an upstanding man in the community. He was like a father to some and best friend to others and a role model for all of them. During this time he was honored with the Cross of Honor, the Advisor’s Key, Dad Advisor of the year (Guild of the Leather Apron) and the highest award the Legion of Honor by DeMolay International. He believed in four major life lessons 1) Always put your faith in God and fear nothing 2) Family is the most important thing 3) Always treat and love people the way you want to be treated 4) Always say “Yes” to an adventure.
He was also pass Patron of Henry Brecht Chapter #43 Order of Eastern Star where he had the privilege of serving with his lovely wife two times.
