Arthur W. Smith (Otts), age 84, a resident of Oak Crest Retirement Community, MD passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016. He was born on August 5, 1932 in Baltimore City to the late Agnes and Charles Smith. He grew up on Fort Avenue in South Baltimore where he attended Southern High School. He spent most of his life in Canton on Bouldin Street. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy (1951-1953) and held the title of Officers Assistant. He retired from CSX Transportation where he worked for 42 years holding the last position as a Supervisor of the Coal Trafficing Department. He loved to bowl and tell jokes. His main passions and hobbies were singing and dancing.
Otts was married on November 27, 1963, to the love of his life, the late Elaine Smith (nee Waters) for 31 years before her death. He is preceded in death by his sibblings Charles (Bucky) Smith, Jr., Warran (Dicky) Smith, Marion (Bootsie) Hudon (nee Smith), Howard Smith and Joseph (Sonny) Smith and the late brother-in-law, Charles (Sonny) Waters. Otts is survived by his daughters and sons in-laws, Kimberly and Kenneth Iwanowski of Bel Air, MD and Pamela and Mark Fuchsluger of Middle River and his five grandchildren Kaitlyn and Kayla Iwanowski, Sierra, Olivia and Mark Fuchsluger, Jr. In addition to his daughters and their families, he was also survived by his sister and husband, Betty and Duane Crocetti, sister-in-law Darlene Koch and her husband Glenn Koch, and sister-in-laws, Matilda (Tillie) Smith and Hilda Smith
Visitation will be held at Connelly Funeral Home in Dundalk, MD on Thursday and Friday from the hours of 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Christian Burial Service will be at Oak Crest Chapel in Parkville, MD on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery on Eastern Avenue in Baltimore, MD.
