Richard Charles Rodgers, Jr is survived by his wife Sharon(Baskette)Rodgers; son Richard Rodgers and his wife Angela; daughter April Richter and her husband Derrick; grandchildren Jacob, Trent, Tyler and Ashlyn; his mothers Linda Rodgers and Trudy Parks; father-in-law James Baskette; sisters Sandy and Susie; brother Ronnie Rodgers; brother-in-law Mark McGehee and his wife Pattie; sister in law Tena Baskette and her children , Jordan and Bryanne. He was predeceased by his father Richard C Rodgers; mother-in-law Ruth Baskette and brother-in-law James Baskette, Jr. Born in Accomack County, Va. he grew up in many places while traveling with his father who was in the military but Rich considered Chincoteague Island, Va. his home. He graduated from Chincoteague High School in 1973 and joined the United States Coast Guard in January 1974 where he served aboard the USCGC Taney until 1975. He finished his military career working in Headquarters at the Portsmouth base. He was honorably discharged in January 1978. He retired as a foreman from Baltimore County Highways in 2011. Rich loved the Baltimore Ravens, fishing, coaching rec football and being Pop Pop. Family will receive visitors at the family owned Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk on Thursday from 4-8 PM. A funeral service to celebrate Richard's life will be held on Thursday evening at 7 PM.
