David Richard Jones was born in Akron, OH on October 23, 1942 to Guelda Leola (Huckaby) and Richard Helbig Jones. His mother was a school teacher and currently lives in Alabama. His father served in World War II as a Naval officer. After the war, his father worked in the family construction company which later served as David's summer employment while in college.
Growing up Dave was an avid athlete who played baseball, football and basketball in Revere High School and later at Otterbein College of Ohio he joined their football team as well. The older brother of two siblings, he is survived by his sister, Sandra married to Phil Forbus who are currently living in Alabama, and his brother Michael married to Betty (Olson) who are currently living in Oakland, CA.
Dave enjoyed a long and successful career in manufacturing for EVAPCO (25 years) which took him around the world to such places as China, Belgium, England, Italy, South Africa and Australia. Prior to that he worked for Westinghouse and Baltimore Air Coil.
Socially, Dave loved playing golf, was a founding member of the Dundalk Raven's Roost, and loved to be on the water either boating or fishing. His favorite movies were What about Bob and Animal House which would send him into hysterics anytime they were on TV. More Recently, he would look forward to the Big Bang Theory reruns.
Dave is survived by his wife of 32 years Carolyn Jones; two sons – Brad Jones (wife Kathy), Dwight Gregory Jones (wife Verna); daughter – Heidi Cantermen (husband Rob), and grandchildren – Kayley, Tanner, Logan and Fiona.
The family will receive friends at the family owned and operated CONNELLY FUNERAL HOME OF DUNDALK, 7110 Sollers Point Road, on Thursday September 22 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM with services and memorial comments to be shared at 7pm. Since David wished to be cremated there will be no graveside services.
