Joseph S. Alvey Jr.

Joseph Spencer Alvey, Jr., 75, of Dundalk, Md., passed away peacefully at home with his family on Nov. 5, 2016. Joe (nicknamed “BIG DOG”) was a dedicated PGK, member & officer of the Knights of Columbus for 40 years and a member & officer of The Omega Club. He also was involved in many other clubs throughout his lifetime. He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Alvey, devoted father of Barbara Bowen and her husband Steve, Michael Alvey, Jennifer Shanahan and her husband Gene, Lisa Gerke and her husband Mark, Spencer Alvey lll and his wife Lisa and Thomas Alvey. Loving brother of Gloria Holt, and the late brother of John “Leo” Alvey, James Alvey, Doris Flavin and Shirley French. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Family will receive visitors at the family owned Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk on Tuesday and Wednesday from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday morning at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.
