William Ray Marshall, Sr., 85, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away December 30, 2016 surrounded by family.
He was a dedicated Christ-follower and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Known by some as “Ray”, and to others as “Bill”, he spent the majority of his life being “Dad”, “Pop”, and “Poppy.” His wisdom, courage, and wit will be missed by many.
Devoted husband of the late Edith M. Marshall (nee Floyd), he is survived by his son, William R. Marshall, Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland, and his wife, Donna; daughter, Wanda L. Hubbard of Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania, and her husband, Robert; also by his grandchildren, Kristen K. Haskins of Westminster, Maryland, and her husband, Nathan; Amanda L. Marshall of Baltimore, Maryland; Kasie L. Knight of Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania, and her fiancée, James Dockman; Andrew R. Marshall of Rogers, Arkansas, and his wife, Bethany; and by his great granddaughter, Riley R. Haskins; and in addition, his sister, Rachel M. Campbell of Stuarts Draft, Virginia; his sister-in-law, Ruth F. Bryant of Waynesboro, Virginia; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harry D. Marshall and Nellie V. Marshall (nee Puckett), he was preceded in death by his siblings, Harry S. Marshall and Kenneth D. Marshall.
The family will receive friends at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road, on Tuesday, January 3 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 4 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
He was a faithful friend of Metropolitan Fire Fighters Burn Center Fund, Inc. until his death. His family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations are sent there (144 Park Road, Pasadena, MD 21122).
