Gil Lookingland passed peacefully on August 14th at the age of 90 at home surrounded by loved ones. Gil was born in Hampden and moved to Inverness at age 17. He was employed at Bethlehem Steel's Rod and Wire Mill as an expeditor. He retired at age 55 and was able to enjoy his many hobbies that he acquired through the years. Including outstanding catcher for Inverness A.C. baseball team, dancer, joke teller, bowling, golfing, swimmer, gardening, card playing, fishing, and attending to his Beagle, Lady II. He was a member of the Masonic Corinthian Lodge. Gil was proud to have been the Clerk of the Court and Justice of the Peace for Dundalk in 1958-1962. His membership with the Rookery Bird Club gave him great pleasure with life-long friends. His membership with the Choir Boys Card Club and his Annual Fishing trip to Cape Charles, VA with four generations also gave him joy. Gil's greatest joy was his Church and his family of 52; wife Elizabeth (Betty Taylor) of 69 years, 3 sons, Gilbert Jr (Carol), Michael (Hope), daughter Nancy Karr, daughter-in-law Jane, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, soon to be 22. Gil was predeceased by his son Warren, son-in-law Michael Karr, brother George, sisters Veronica Dubs and Grace Ruzicka, father Wilmer and mother Matilda. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 24th, 11 AM at 1st Lutheran Church of Gray Manor, 212 Oakwood Road 21222. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Church for the Good Samaritan Fund.
