It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anastasia E. Johnson, born August 27, 1940, in Baltimore, MD. She was a beloved daughter of Sam and Esther Baccala and stepdaughter to Julia Baccala. Anastasia grew up in the vibrant neighborhood of Little Italy in Baltimore.
Anastasia will be deeply missed by her devoted husband, Richard Lee Johnson, and her daughters Patricia Girard and husband Maurice, Cheryl Smith, Linda Rehak and husband Steve, and Julia Dietz and husband John. She was a cherished grandmother to six grandchildren - Michael, Sam, Lindsay, Sarah, Stephen, and Rich - and a loving great-grandmother to Maddox, Justin, Mallory, and Johnathan. Anastasia is survived by her siblings, Sonny Baccala and Sandra Lebos.
A true matriarch, Anastasia found joy in cooking, gardening, journaling, and spiritual reading. She enjoyed challenging herself with Scrabble and Word Search, and had a profound love for wildlife. Anastasia treasured the time spent reminiscing with family and friends, particularly during the holidays.
Anastasia was preceded in death by her siblings Mary, Catherine, Patricia, and Michael, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A celebration of life for Anastasia Johnson will be held privately with family at a later date.
Let us all remember the life of a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many with her kindness and grace. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
