NICK AND ANNA COTSARIS
Nick was born in Athens, Greece and as a child lived through the German Occupation during World War II. Years later as a young man, Nick joined and served in the Royal Hellenic Air Force. Upon completion of his service, Nick left Greece and came to America where he worked at various jobs until he made the decision to become a barber and enrolled in Barber School. When Nick completed his schooling, he worked in a barbershop and eventually bought the shop, thereby fulfilling the dream of owning his own shop. He retired after 40 years when he suffered a stroke.
Anna was born and raised in Tarpon Springs, Florida. She moved to Hopewell, VA, then to New York City, and finally settled in Baltimore. After working at different jobs, Anna decided to become a beautician, and upon completing her schooling, she went on to work for many years at Andre's Elite Salon on Charles Street in Baltimore.
Anna sang in the choir at the Annunciation Cathedral, was a Sunday School teacher at St. Nicholas for five years, and she and Nick are still members of St. Demetrios. She continues to sing in the St. George choir, is a member of Daughters of Penelope, has served on the Nominating Committee of Philoptochos, and she and Nick are members of Ocean Pearls.
They were married in Baltimore in 1959 and they have two sons. George and his wife Corina have three children and Nicholas, Jr. and his wife Brenda have two children. Nick and Anna feel that their five beautiful grandchildren are their most prized blessings.
Their last and permanent move will be to their home in Fenwick Island, DE. They thank God for all their blessings and are happy to be a part of the little church by the sea and to have fellowship with the beautiful people of St. George who are more like family.
Family will receive visitors at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk on Friday from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. A funeral service to celebrate Anne’s life will be held Saturday at 10 AM at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2504 Cub Hill Road, Parkville, MD 21234. Interment will follow at St. Demetrios Cemetery.
