Athina Neofitou (nee Zaferakis) joined her husband, the late Lambros Neofitou, in heaven on February 28, 2018. She is survived by her two daughters, Margo Koulatsos and Argyrenia Maurakis and their husbands, Dennis Koulatsos and James Maurakis. She is also the proud grandmother of Athina Batis (nee Koulatsos) and her husband Emmanouil Batis, Christos Koulatsos, Athina Maurakis, Evangelia Maurakis and George Maurakis.
Athina is additionally survived by two of her siblings, Petros Ioannou and Ploumi Patros, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. They reside in Halki, Dodecanesou, Greece, where Athina began her life before coming to make a family of her own in Baltimore, Maryland.
During her life here in Baltimore, she became a long-time member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, where she was an active member of the Ladies Philoptohos Society and treasurer of the Greek School PTA.
She was a woman of God with a fierce spirit and a gentle heart and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
The family will receive friends at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Rd. on Sunday from 4:30-7:30pm with a trisagion being held at 7pm. A funeral service to celebrate Athina's life will be held on Monday, 11am at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 520 Ponca St, Baltimore, MD 21224. Interment to follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
