Clare Lorraine Owens, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, at the age of 89. Born in Swansea, Massachusetts, Clare was a bright light in the lives of those who knew her. She was the cherished wife of the late George H. Owens Jr., with whom she shared a beautiful marriage starting on January 3, 1953, while he was serving in the Navy. George predeceased her on June 20, 2018.
Clare's love for her family was immeasurable. She is survived by her daughter, Susan L. Littleton (John Littleton), and her daughter Cynthia L. Owens (George Booker). Clare's legacy continues with her treasured grandchildren, Brittney E. Ziegler (Michael Ziegler), and Tyler W. Littleton (Michael Rathell). She was also a proud great-grandmother to Clare E. Ziegler and Owen M. Ziegler.
A passionate florist, Clare poured her heart into her work at the local Flower Shop, where she crafted vibrant arrangements that brightened the days of many. Outside of her profession, she found joy in her garden, crossword puzzles and traveling, embraced the simple pleasures of popcorn and peanut M&M's, and cherished the nostalgia of carousels. Her spirit also flourished in her community, where she was actively engaged with the St. Rita's Girl Scout troop alongside her daughters.
Clare was famous for her weekly sleepovers with her grandchildren, creating memories filled with laughter and love. Even up until a week before her passing, she devoted herself to caring for her great-grandchildren, celebrating life's little moments and weaving an ever-strong bond with her family.
In honoring Clare's beautiful life, a Memorial Mass will be held at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 3 Dunmanway 21222, on Monday, December 16th at 10:00 AM, allowing all who loved Clare to share their memories, celebrate her spirit, and support one another in grief and gratitude for a life well-lived.
Clare Owens will forever be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed but her spirit will continue to bloom in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
