Clarence Kates

Clarence Kates, of Baltimore, Maryland passed from this life on July 20, 2022.  Born August 3, 1942, in Three Links, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Johnny and Venus Kates.

In 1966, Clarence began working as a millwright at The Sweetheart Cup Company in Baltimore.  He was a diligent worker who achieved numerous perfect attendance awards.  He remained an employee at Sweetheart Cup until his retirement in 2008.  Apart from his job, Clarence enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He loved outdoor walks in the park, annual hunting trips, and weekend golf outings.  In his retirement Clarence became very active at Victory Villa Senior Center where he was a regular card player and Wii champion bowler.  Church was important to Clarence, and he attended and served faithfully.

Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Linda Nozeika Kates; two sons, Keith Kates and his wife Christine, and Kurt Kates ; three grandchildren, Julianna Kates, Jacob Kates and Cameron Kates; two brothers, John Kates Jr. and Vernon Kates; four sisters, Louise Kates Mottley, Linda Kates Cronin, Kathy Rueling, Carolyn Green and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers James Kates and  Roger Kates; sisters Norma Jean Goodman Kates and Terry Lee Kates.

Family will receive visitors at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk on Monday from 5-7 PM. A celebration of life will be held at 6 PM Monday evening.
