It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great great-grandfather, Edward Fewster Jr, who left us on January 20th, 2025, at the amazing age of 101 years old. A man of faith, strength, integrity, and unwavering love, he was the heart and soul of his family, the rock upon which we all stood, and the guiding force in our lives.
Born on June 17th, 1923, in Baltimore, MD, Ed grew up with a strong work ethic and a deep commitment to family. From an early age, he demonstrated a drive that would shape the rest of his life-whether it was in his career, his community involvement, or most importantly, his role as a father and grandfather. He was a man who believed in doing things the right way, putting in the hard work, and always making time for those who mattered most.
Answering the call to serve his country, he joined the United States Navy during World War II, where he honorably served as a Seaman First Class Deck Gunner aboard the U.S.S. Washington. A courageous and dedicated serviceman, Ed fought valiantly in some of the most critical naval battles of the Pacific. His stories of bravery and camaraderie were a source of inspiration to all who had the privilege of hearing them.
Ed met the love of his life, Ella Mae, after his service and together they built a family founded on love, respect, and resilience. As a grandfather turned immediate father, he was everything we could ever need-our protector, our provider, and our guide. His children will forever remember his lessons in perseverance, responsibility, and unconditional love. He was the first one to offer a helping hand, the first to step up when needed, and the one we could always turn to for advice.
As a great-grandfather, Ed embraced his role with the same dedication and care he gave to his children. His great-grandchildren were a constant source of joy for him. He took great pride in watching them grow, sharing stories from his past, and offering wisdom that only a loving great-grandfather could. His presence in their lives was a steady comfort, a reminder of the importance of family and hard work.
In recent years, he became a great great-grandfather, and the arrival of his great great-grandchildren, brought him immeasurable happiness. His legacy of love, strength, and dedication will undoubtedly live on through them for generations to come.
Above all, Ed was a family man. His love for his family was boundless, and he always put others before himself. Whether it was a family gathering, a holiday celebration, or a simple check in, He was the glue that held his family together. He was the one who made sure we all knew we were loved, valued, and supported. His home was always open, his door always welcoming, and his heart always full.
Ed is survived by his grandchildren, Joe and Lisa Foster, James and Angel Fortney, Nigel and Jenipher McMillan, Terry and Heather McMillan, Arthur McMillan, Edward McMillan, Eric Hochstetter and Karen Mantell, twenty great-grandchildren, twenty great great-grandchildren and countless other family members and friends whose lives were touched by his love and wisdom.
While we mourn the loss of our rock, we find comfort in the legacy he leaves behind-one of hard work, deep love, patriotism, and a commitment to family that will endure for generations. He will forever be remembered, missed, and loved.
In celebration of Edward's remarkable life, a public viewing will be held at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 5829 Ritchie Hwy, 21225 where he will be laid to rest.
