Edward "Mike" Michael Wight Jr.

Edward "Mike" Michael Wight, Jr. died November 9, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 77 years old.

Mike was the son of the late Edward M. Wight, Sr. and the late Flora (Fitzhugh) Wight. He is predeceased by his sister Patrica (Wight) Dugger. He is survived by his children Michele (Wight) Whitley (Paul), son Kevin Wight, sister Marsha (Wight) Wise (John), grandchildren: Jenna (Hemling) Sanzone (Bobbie), Mackenzie Whitley, Lauren Hemling, Reece, and Ryan Wight. Great grandsons Jax and Brooks Sanzone. Nephews Matthew, Jared, and Jason Wise. Cousin Jeanette Moulton, along with many more cousins. His former wife Joann Brannan, whom he remained friends with.

Mike grew up in South Baltimore, where he graduated from Southern High school in 1965. While in high school, he swam on the varsity swim team. He appeared several times on the Buddy Dean Show, a local television teen dance program.

Upon graduating high school, he began working for Bethlehem Steel and its many successor companies, until his retirement in 2012.

When not working (he never missed a chance for overtime) Mike enjoyed bowling, golfing, watching football, and, last but not least, being out and about socializing. You could not walk into a bar or restaurant in Baltimore and not have someone call out, "hey, Mike!" He also loved the sports cars of his youth. He owned a 1982 Corvette, which was his pride and joy. He loved the car so much that he had it tattooed on his arms. He liked to joke with people that he was being buried with it!

Visitation will be on Tuesday November 12, 2024 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM and also on Wednesday November 13, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM.

Interment will immediately follow the visitation at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens located at 7231 Ritchie Hwy. Glen Burnie Md. 21061.
