On January 14th, Erland Erickson passed away at home with his children by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Hilda Erickson, devoted father to Karen Pantazonis and her husband Aris, Linda Lacey and her husband David, and Earl Erickson and his wife Debbie. Loving grandfather to Steven and Austin Lacey, and Alexander Pantazonis. Dear brother to Kathryn Mendolicchio, David Erickson and his wife Diane, and the late Donna Webster.
He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and step-great grandchildren.
Born in Jamestown, New York he lived most of his life in Dundalk, MD. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic and later crew chief. He worked at the Sparrows Point shipyard and later as a sheet metal foreman for the U.S. Coast Guard until he retired with 31 years of service. Upon retiring he spent time traveling the U.S. with his wife and hosting family celebrations. He had a lifelong passion for flying and earned his private pilots license while in the Air Force. He was a true craftsman and handyman who enjoyed wood working and remodeling homes for friends and family. He always had a project going and passion for problem solving. Erland was also a member of more than 60 years with the Patapsco Masonic Lodge of Dundalk.
There will be a private service for immediate family and close friends. In lieu of flowers the family suggests making donations to Gilchrist Hospice of Towson or St. Lukes Evangelical Lutheran Church of Dundalk.
