Evelyn Nevada Rogowski left her earthly home peacefully and met her Lord face to face on January 12, 2019.
She was the most devoted loving mother a family could ever have. More than anything, she treasured time with her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, and church family. Evelyn was a faithful member of Cornerstone Church of Johnson City. She especially cherished celebrating the Christmas season because she loved her Lord, but she found beauty in all seasons of the year. All who knew her loved her sparkling blue eyes, warm smile and sweet spirit. She was a lover of Jesus and triumphantly finished her race, fought the good fight and kept her faith firmly focused on the kingdom of God first, making everything else in her life second – just the way she believed it was supposed to be. She was a giver and quietly helped everyone she could. She treated everyone she knew with love and utmost respect and it was her gentle caring spirit that drew people to her.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Walter J. Rogowski, and her parents, Theodore and Mellie Thompson Brown: 2 sisters, Janice White, and June Mills; brother, Boyd Brown.
Those left to cherish her memory are four daughters: Sherida Lawson (Thomas), Gail Barbarino, Thelma Antkowiak (James), Ann Eargle (Bob); six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Vernon Brown (Susan); sister, Glenna Collett; and a host of nieces and nephews and very special friends.
The family extends appreciation to family and friends for their comforting prayers. Sincere appreciation is also extended to the nurses at Avalon Hospice for their supportive and compassionate care and for contributing to the enrichment of our mother’s life as she journeyed forward in her last few days.
Family will receive visitors at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk on Friday from 7-9 PM. Burial will take place on Saturday at 10 AM at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
