Surrounded by family Everleigh Piper Jenkins of Baltimore passed away Friday, September 7, 2018. She is survived by selfless devoted parents Travis and Jennifer (Jurkiewicz) Jenkins; two sets of loving grandparents Owen and Debra (Desrosiers) Jenkins and Jimmy and Deborah (Adams) Mullins; a doting uncle and god parent Phil Jurkiewicz III; faithful great grandparents Mary Adams and Billie Mullins; adoring god parents Kerri Richardson, and Steve and Megan (Mulcahy) Connelly; great uncles and aunts; compassionate and ever thoughtful honorary family members: doctors: Dr. Kristen Nelson, Dr. Luca Vriecella, Dr. Betsy Hunt, Dr. Melanie Nies, Dr. Margaret Skinner and Dr. Niru Habino ; nurses: Mariah, Rachel, Heather, Sam, Kristen, Shelby, Tamika, Consquela, Molly, Addie, Amanda, Dana, Bridgette, Jess, Carly, Emily, Lydia, Erin, Candace; a wonderful PICU family and Chaplin Kat.
Everleigh Piper arrived February 3, 2017. Born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, Travis and Jen knew she would be different and special; little did they know they had their very own unicorn and wonder woman in a small 6 pound 13 ounces package. After two open surgeries and months of living at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Everleigh came home to be with her family at the end of May 2017. She was the talk of the town and the center of attention at the 4th of July cookout.
After a very short home stay that was thought to be a permanent, she returned to Johns Hopkins to continue her lifelong struggle. Since July 2017, Little Miss endured another open-heart surgery and defeated all odds. She had two costumes for her first Halloween, Wonder Woman and a unicorn, she visited with Santa for Christmas, she partied hard on New Year’s Eve, and even cried at her first birthday party.
Such a big personality in a small body. May she forever to be remembered to have an infectious smile, tight grip, and a side eye to kill. She is now playing with her PICU sister Londyn Simone Manuel in heaven.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made in Everleigh’s name to Helping Hearts Charity at http://www.helpingheartscharity.org/donations/
