Harry Earl McCloskey was born in Williamsport, Pa. in 1924 to Helen and Reid McCloskey. They grew up in very humble conditions. Their first house was a barn up on the hillside of South Williamsport. Harry had two great parents and brothers Lee and Reid. Most of the time the boys spent gathering food and enjoying life. The times were not easy but the family made the most of the situation.
Harry was an excellent student, athlete, and person. His sports were basketball, football, baseball at this young age. After graduating from high school he spent time at several colleges Lycoming, Muhlenberg, and Swarthmore where he received his degree in Mechanical Engineering. During this time he was enlisted in the Navy. At Swarthmore he played football and lacrosse making First Team All-American in lacrosse in 1945.
After leaving the area he took a job with Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore Maryland and met his future wife Doris. They lived in Dundalk and had a child named John. Harry lived on 3007 Dunbrin Rd where he passed away
As a husband he was loyal and loving. As a Dad he was the best. His position at Bethlehem Steel was General Foreman for the Rod and Wire Mill. His activities included golf, coaching lacrosse, bowling, fishing, hunting, crabbing, spending time with his granddaughters Lauren and Page, as well as his relatives.
Harry was quiet, humble, funny, loving, smart and generous.
To his son, family and friends he was a great man.
A memorial service for Harry will be held at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Rd. on Saturday, May 25th at 11:30 AM
