On May 21, 2017, Helen A. Lane (nee Kindle) entered Heaven’s gates at the age of 90 years. A woman of faith and the heart of the Lane family, she helped to shape their spirituality by her tireless Christian example. She was blessed to have in her life her beloved husband, Reverend James H. Lane, their daughters and son-in-laws, Hope & Robert Larson of Perry Hall, MD/Myrtle Beach, SC. , Vicky & Will Trainor of Church Hill, MD and Teresa & Ken Harper of Myrtle Beach, SC. Ever so happy to share with others the fact that she had 5 generations living in the Lane Family with her 7 grandchildren Trinity Herold of Ridgely, MD, James Larson of Perry Hall, MD, Ryan Larson who is in Heaven, Jacob Larson of Perry Hall, MD, Terrina Thomas of Virginia Beach, VA, Lane Miller of Baltimore, MD and Christian Miller of Virginia Beach, VA; 5 great-grandchildren Matthew Herold, Bethany Stone, Cadi Thomas, Seth Thomas and Victoria Miller; and 2 great-great-grandchildren Kaileb Herold and Gracelyn Stone. She and James were the Pastors of Trinity Temple Church in Essex, MD for the past 55 years. Born on February 18, 1927, Helen was the daughter of Luther S. and Goldie M. Kindle. She is survived by her baby brother, Luther Paul Kindle of Kingsport, TN and pre-deceased by her brother Hubert Kindle and her sister Margaret Fields. The Kindle Family resided in Kingsport, TN where Helen graduated from Dobyns Bennett High School and worked for Eastman Kodak. It was in Kingsport, TN that she met and fell in love with her beloved husband James H. Lane. They were married on February 16, 1945, just 2 days short of her birthday as she and James said they just couldn’t wait to be husband and wife to be married on her birthday. They moved to Dayton, OH for a short time and then returned to Kingsport, TN where God called James into His ministry. Following God’s calling for their lives, they moved to Maryland to pastor churches in Alexandria, VA, Fort Meade, MD and Essex, MD. In 1962, Helen and James co-founded and pastored Trinity Temple Church in Essex, MD and they have continued in God’s work as the founders and pastors for the past 55 years. Always a strong willed woman who put God first in her life, she supported and loved her husband and raised her daughters to love family and “God first in everything”. A true testament to her faith, Helen prayed every night, lifting names of family, friends, parishioners and those met by happenstance to God. She prayed out loud with her hands raised lifting every request to the Lord. Some nights the prayers would last for hours. She was faithful in her prayer life. In January of 2017, Helen fell and broke her pelvis - an injury from which she would not recover. It was during these last 5 months that not only family witnessed this faithfulness but it came to touch the lives of the medical staff and others during her short stay in rehab. Helen is the apple of Jim's eye. They did everything together for more than 72 years. She is his "sweet beautiful little bride”. He was her everything. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Temple Church, 914 Essex Avenue, Essex, MD 21221.
