Jay Thomas Smith

On November 1, 2018, Jay Thomas Smith passed away unexpectedly at home. Beloved husband to Laura Smith, devoted step-father to Aaron Fritze, loving step-grandfather of Sawyer Fritze, and dear brother of Randall Smith, Janice Perazzo, and Sandra Smith-Boos. Jay was also surrounded by loving nieces and nephews in both Maryland and New York.  He was a wonderful Great Uncle to two nieces and a nephew as well.

Jay graduated from SUNY Buffalo with his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and later in life, pursued and earned his Master Degree in Engineering as well.  He loved his position as Chief Engineer I at Jackson and Tull, and worked there for almost 25 years.  Jay was a lifelong, passionate advocate for the United States of America aerospace program.  Jay also enjoyed being with his friends and family at The Prince of Peace Lutheran Church-through weekly sermons, activities, fundraisers and helping on many occasions with building homes for the needy through the Habit for Humanity Program. For the last three plus years, Jay as also been an active parishioner with his wife Laura,  at the Patapsco United Methodist Church helping in the community as well as with those in need.   Jay was a friend to all, not a mean bone in his entire body,  and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

Family will receive visitors at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road, on Sunday from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. Funeral Service to celebrate Jay's life will be on Monday morning at 10 am at the funeral home.  Interment to follow the service at Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road in Clinton, Maryand 20735.
