John S. Podles, Jr.

John S. Podles Jr., 77, of Edgemere, Sparrows Point, passed away Tuesday October 1, 2019 at Johns Hopkins Bayview surrounded by close family and clergy after a long battle with cancer.

 

John served in the Army National Guard before starting a 50 year career at Bethlehem Steel. In addition, John was a real estate investor and enjoyed rehabbing his properties.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, dining at restaurants, attending morning mass at Our Lady of Hope Chapel while leading the rosary service and serving as a Eucharistic Minister.  

 

John is survived by his three sons Robert Podles, Christopher Podles, Steven Podles; former wife Thelma Podles; grandchildren Michael & Brianna Podles, Cameron & Molly Ann Podles & newborn great grandchild Cole Mason Podles; sisters Jeanette Wooden & Laura Crites. John was preceded in death by his parents John Podles Sr., Marie Podles and younger sister Francis Straka.

 

Family will receive visitors at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk on Monday October 7, 2019 from 3pm-7pm. A funeral service to celebrate John's life will be held on Tuesday October 8, 2019 at 11am inside of the chapel at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.  There will also be a brief viewing at 10:30am inside of the chapel. Interment will follow the service at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, 7401 German Hill Rd, Dundalk, MD 21222.
