Joyce West

Joyce A. West was a beloved soul who graced this world with her presence on September 5, 1939, in Pennsylvania. On June 4, 2024, Joyce passed away in Dundalk, MD, her home for many years.

Joyce was the beloved wife of the late Harry William West, Jr. Her memory will be cherished by her daughters Dawn Simpson and Jackie Umphlett, along with her son-in-law Bill. She was also a loving grandmother to Jennifer Wood and Jessica Umphlett and the late Mark Simpson Jr, and great-grandmother to Michael Wood (Janae), Tyler Wood, and Emily McFeaters. Joyce was a cherished sister among a large family of thirteen siblings: Richard Tawney (Peggy), Susan Tawney, and the late Robert, Buzzy, Johnny, Freddie, Ronnie, Joey, Jimmy, Mary, Donna, Debbie and Tina.

A woman of simple pleasures, Joyce found joy in the company of her family and friends. She adored her regular trips to the Green Dragon in PA, her Bingo nights at the Senior Center, and her outings to the slots with her sisters. Joyce cherished her weekly breakfast gatherings with the West family, where stories and laughter flowed freely.

Funeral services to honor Joyce's life will take place at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road. A public viewing will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024, from 11:00 am- 1:00 pm. This will be followed by a funeral service beginning at 1:00 pm. A graveside service will take place immediately following the service at Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens, 5598 Trumps Mill Road, Baltimore, MD 21206.

In honor of Joyce's memory, the family requests that any donations be made to the Optimist Club of Dundalk in lieu of flowers. Joyce's legacy lives on through her family, and she will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
