Judy Pueschel (Dunton), beloved wife of the late Louis Pueschel, devoted mother to Brian and his wife Debbie, Michael and his wife Linda, Christy and her husband Jerry Ziemba, and Keith and his wife Linda; loving grandmother to eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, loving sister of Barbara Blackman, Debbie Zielinski and the late Ira Dunton.
Judy(Judith) Pueschel was born to Mary and Garrett Dunton on August 10, 1938. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She has 2 sisters, Barbara, and Debra, and a recently deceased brother, Ira. Judy went to Dundalk schools and graduated from Dundalk High School in 1956. She married her sweetheart, Lou, in 1955. Yes, that's correct, she was married before graduating high school and she also kept it a secret from their parents! They are survived by her four children, Brian, Mike, Christy and Keith, their Daughter's-in-law, Debbie, Linda, & Linda, their son-in-law, Jerry, as well as 8 grandchildren & 7 great grandchildren.
Judy was a homemaker while her children were young but gradually entered the work force by working part time as a substitute teacher. She later worked at Pinland in Dundalk, but Judy has maintained the highest family score of 218 and constantly bragged to her friends and reminded her children whenever the subject of bowling came up.
Judy had beautiful, thick black hair. As she aged, everyone else was turning silver gray and she wanted that too, but believe it or not she never had her hair dyed.
Judy had a smoking habit since her teenage years. Her children constantly nagged her to quit smoking. She told everyone to mind their own business. However, when her 5th grandchild was born, Judy was told that she could not hold her granddaughter because the cigarette smoke was worsening her asthma. She said, "no one can tell me to not hold my Grand baby" and she quit cold turkey that day!!
Lou and Judy took many camping trips on the weekends with neighbors and friends to Granite Hill and Harpers Ferry. One infamous 4-week trip to tour the US from the Grand Canyon to Yellowstone was cut short when Judy jack-knifed the van and travel trailer causing it to flip on its side, and that was only on the second day! Fortunately, no one was injured, and the family completed the 4-week journey touring the US the following year. It was a great family vacation with memories that her children all cherish to this day!
They had a seasonal beach trailer, first in Longneck, Delaware, near Rehoboth, then later upgrading to a mobile home in Cape Winsor on Fenwick Island, Delaware. Judy enjoyed many fun times with her children and grandchildren swimming at the pool and in the ocean, taking boating trips to Assateague Island, walking and bike riding on the Ocean City boardwalk, ad riding the rides in Rehoboth.
Judy and Lou absolutely loved to travel. Throughout the years, they have walked the great wall of China, climbed the pyramids in Egypt, rode elephants in India, explored the streets of St. Petersburg in Russia, cruised the fjords in Norway, went on safari in South Africa, took a gondola ride in Italy, sailed through the Panama Canal, snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, swam in the Mediterranean in Turkey, watched a bull fight in Spain, and explored ruins in Greece, to name a few.
Their grandchildren aspire to get to these places too! Sarah and Rick have gone to Norway and Japan. Eric and Angie have gone to England and Paris. Lou and Erin Hawaii and Ireland. Nick traveled Europe, South Africa and Australia. Alex has been to the Caribbean, England, and France. Doug has been to Spain and New Zealand.
Lou built Judy their dream home on Back River, with the help of his children. While Lou was building their house, they even had to live in a camper trailer for a year. I am sure you can all image how Judy felt about that.
Judy was a lifelong Dundalk girl and was extremely proud of her alma mater, Dundalk High School. She helped to organize all of the class reunions for both her and Lou's graduating classes. If her grandchildren's sports teams were competing against Dundalk High School, she would show up to the game dressed in green and gold and would cheer for Dundalk!
Lou and Judy always enjoyed a good time and loved to party with great friends. Judy maintained lifelong friendships with high school friends, was a member of the Dundalk Golden Girls, and loved to travel with the U-Frack group, as well as neighbors from Bear Creek. Lou and Judy hosted annual Labor Day parties that friends and family attended from near and far. They also had New Year's Eve parties in their rowhome on Del Haven, where they and their friends would dance until the early hours of the morning.
We believe she's dancing in heaven today.
