Lucille McKinley Gerhart passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 13th at the age of 101.
Lucille was born on April 6, 1919 and spoke fondly of childhood memories being raised in Harrisville, WV and later in Parkersburg, WV. Her parents were John L and Winifred E. McKinley.
In the 1940s she moved to Dundalk, MD and was married to William F. Gerhart Sr. for 51 years. Lucille had 5 children: William Mitchell, Susan Fink (m to Gerard), Sandra Hackman (m to Howard), William "Bunky" Gerhart (m to Olivia), Jane Parto (m to Steven). She is predeceased by her late husband, son William Mitchelll, and two brothers and sister of West Virginia.
Lucille had 11 grandchildren: William Mitchell, Debra Pace, Jennifer Miller, Christine Mills, David Chapman, Dani Streett, Lee Chapman (predeceased), Justden Gerhart, William Gerhart, Wendy Gerhart, and Hope Kares. She was also blessed with many great grand children that contributed to her life as well as many great-great grandchildren.
Lucille, or Mimi, as her family called her was known for her wit and one liners. She loved going to church, sewing, cooking for her family and friends and for sharing her endless supply of chocolates. Her warmth and loving heart are most remembered by her family. She never let anyone fall asleep without covering them in a blanket, most made by her. She was spunky and lives on this way in the spunkiness of her children and grandchildren. She was forever waving goodbye lovingly as we drove away until she could not see us anymore and we are doing that to her now…..
Interment will be at a later date.
I Thessalonians 4:13- It gives us comfort that she is with her Saviour Jesus Christ.
