Mary Ellen Smith

Mary Ellen was a devoted wife to the late Ronald A Smith, mom to Todd Smith & wife Shari, (Nan) to grandsons Steven, Scott and Tyler and great grandmom (Nan) to Brea, Stevie, Hannah and Cameron Smith.

Nan was a long tenured business Mgr. At a local machine shop Slaysman Co Inc. She retired from her long career when the company closed after the death of the owner. Once retired she enjoyed volunteering at her grandsons elementary school serving as room mother. She also volunteered with the watersedge rec council helping at many fall festivals.

She also enjoyed playing bingo, trips to Ocean City, Md with family, and visiting her sister Betty Chavis and her children in ocean city. Nan also enjoyed playing cards with her other sister Kathleen (Kas) Fries and her husband and children in Landsdowne.

Her health began to deteriorate when diagnosed with asbestosis and mesothelioma, the 24-7 use of oxygen limited her to home most of the time in her later years, she found comfort in the fact that her boys lived very close to her home and were able to help do the things she found to be a struggle in later years.

After a month long hospital stay she was placed in a rehab center to learn to walk and possibly return home to her Watersedge residence of 65+ years, but that wouldn't be as she passed peacefully in her sleep on Oct 21st.

With a full life lived she was reunited with dad ( Pop) and her sisters aunt Betty and Kas and her parents John and Ruth.

We take solice in the fact that she now resides in heaven and will keep a watchful eye on the grandson's and great grand children. Nan we will forever miss you and love you ❤️!

Family will receive visitors at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk on Wednesday, October 26th from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 7 PM. Interment will be private.
