Melody Meyer Phillips departed this life unexpectedly on May 16, 2019 at her home in Edgemere, MD. She was the daughter of Miles Meyer (deceased) and Doris Meyer. She is survived by her mother, her husband Jerry Phillips, their son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Erin Phillips, her granddaughter Riley Phillips, and her sisters Valerie Johnson, Mila Going, and Doris Hook, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Melody started a career in real estate during the 80’s that would span several decades. She began as an agent, and then taught real estate classes for Coldwell Banker, before becoming a title underwriter and settlement agent. She eventually went on to own and operate her own real estate title company for over 20 years before she retired. Melody was an amazing cook, and she enjoyed sharing her gift with others by providing food for everything from large family functions, to local church and recovery groups. She was an avid traveler, having traveled all across our country and around the globe over the years. She had an incredible creative flair which she used for all sorts beautiful craft projects, from Christmas wreaths, to flower arrangements, and even a parade float; if you had an idea, she could make it happen. She had a true passion for ballroom dancing, and spent many nights seeking out live music for a night of dancing with her husband and friends. Melody loved animals, and fostered many rescued golden retrievers and other breeds over the years, as well as many stray and discarded cats. Melody was loved and respected as a source of wisdom by many, and she will be severely missed. According to her wishes, Melody will be cremated. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 23rd at 6:00PM at Eastern Assembly of God, located at 7923 Wise Avenue, Dundalk, MD 21222. Reception to immediately follow in the church’s dining hall. In lieu of sending floral arrangements, the family requests that you instead send or bring perennial flowers (to later be used for a memorial garden), or make a donation in her name to her church’s Vision Fund at: Echo Community Church 9510 Belair Road Nottingham, MD 21236 Ph: 410-248-8899
