Mrs. Myrtle Brayboy Thompson, daughter of the late Bascom and Tussie Brayboy, was born on December 7th, 1932 in Robeson County, North Carolina. Myrtle made her awaited transition to her heavenly home on September 20, 2019, where she has been granted everlasting life. Myrtle is proceeded in death by her son Joseph “Shot” Chavis, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. For 86 years, 9 months, and 20 days down to the second Myrtle was an illustration of magnificent. Just was gentle and kind. She had amazing strength and great wisdom. She was patient and understanding. She was honest, loyal, independent and strong willed. She found joy in cooking for others and watching her beloved Ravens. Mrs. Myrtle served God with her whole heart and worked faithfully in the church until her health declined. She loved and valued her family in its entirety. She was known as Myrtle, Baby, Momma, Bunky, Grandma, Granny, Sister and Friend but her new title is, Good and Faithful Servant. Mrs. Myrtle leaves to cherish and honor her memories; her loving husband, George Thompson of the home; Seven daughters: Linda Scott (James), Jannie Locklear, Moneas Chavis (Tim), Rita Chavis, Cora Hammonds (Mitchell) all of Shannon, NC; Three sons; Paul Chavis of Fayetteville, NC, Randolph McMillan (Glenda) of Red Springs, NC; Wayne Chavis (Mag) of Pembroke, NC; 47 Grandchildren; 90 Great Grandchildren; A host Great-Great Grandchildren; Two Special Granddaughters, Cassandra Hammonds and Franny Fisher that called her Momma. Visitation with family will be at the family owned and operated CONNELLY FUNERAL HOME OF DUNDALK, 7110 Sollers Point Road, on Tuesday from 3 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery.
