Patrick T. Spataro

After a short battle with a reoccurrence of lung cancer, Pat Spataro succumbed to the disease, on April 29, 2017, two days before his 86th birthday. He was a longtime resident of Dundalk, moving there from Frostburg, MD in the mid 50's with his wife Dorothy. They later moved to the White Marsh area. He was the son of the late Patsy and Edith Spataro of Frostburg.   He was a hard-working man, often working two jobs to support his family. He will probably best be remembered for his infectious laugh, and always greeting you with a smile. He worked for Patapsco and Back River Railroad for 34 years, retiring in 1989. He was then able to enjoy "His Summer Place" in Largent, West Virginia, a place he built with his own hands. He was always busy keeping things working and loved riding his John Deer tractor and maintaining all of the grounds.   Pat was also an avid NASCAR fan. He had always maintained his own vehicles as well as those of all his kids. He hated to see dirty tires on a vehicles! He kept his car in pristine condition, and loved driving his "hemi". He had a garage that he loved and you would inevitably find him tinkering whenever you pulled up to visit–waxing, polishing, or fixing something!   He was a great family-man. He was so proud of all his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed a good party, and with a large family, we were  always celebrating birthdays, holidays, reunions, etc. He was honored last May with an 85th surprise birthday party at his daughter’s house. Over 75 relatives and friends attended.     Gone too fast, he was a kind and gentle man who will be missed by many: wife Dorothy (nee Hansel), daughter Joy (Dick), son Dennis (Ava), daughter Patti (Dick), daughter Debra (Jim), and daughter Lisa (Joe). He had 7 grandchildren: Donna (John), Lauren, Leah, Joseph, Lindsay, Jamie, and Jordan, and 1 great grandson, Brady. His surviving relatives also include sisters Mary Louise and Darlene, and one brother Buddy (Rose), a brother-in-law, Jim (Laura), and a sister-in-law, Betty. It was blessing that he got to see many of them before his passing. A memorial service to celebrate Patrick's life will be held at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk on June 3rd, 2017 at 12 noon. .
