Raymond Isaac Ford, III, 61, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Born to the late Raymond Ford, Jr. and Amelia (DeAngelis) Ford, he is also predeceased by his former beloved spouse, Donna (Petersen) Ford, who was the mother of his children, Raymond I. Ford, IV and wife Pamela, Tyler Ford and wife Heather, and Trey Ford. He was also a devoted grandfather to Isaac, Ava Rae and Raymond I. Ford, V.
He is survived by his current beloved wife, Christina (Cary) Ford and stepdaughter Katie (Orlando) Gerhart and husband, Justden, and stepdaughter Andrea Cain. He was also a dear brother to Helen (Ford) Kelly and her husband, Joseph V. Kelly, Jr. Ray is also remembered as a loving uncle and great uncle.
Ray grew up in Southeast Baltimore City and had many friends from the Joseph Lee Rec Center and Community formerly known as the A to K neighborhood bordered by Anglesea to Kane Street. He was a standout baseball player with the Eastwood Little League before graduating from Archbishop Curley High School in 1977 where he was a standout player in soccer. Ray graduated from UMBC where he was an All-American soccer player and still holds the record for most goals scored with 51 goals and 124 points. He helped the 1977 team to a 15-2 record and UMBC’s first trip to the NCAA Tournament. He was inducted into the Maryland Soccer Hall of Fame in 2016.
After earning a BA from UMBC, Ray was a Project Manager with Worthington Steel for many years and was a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Knights of Columbus at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Aberdeen, MD.
Ray and Christina recently moved to Keenwick Sound in Selbyville, DE in anticipation of retirement.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 26, from 3-7, at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, MD. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 27, at 10:00 a.m., at Saint Joan of Arc Church, 222 Law Street, Aberdeen, MD 21001. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro, DE.
