Doc was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife: Edna Oxendine (Mills), his parents: Alva Sr and Fannie (Lambert) Oxendine, Five Siblings: Alva Jr, William, Franklin, Viler Jane and Polly, and Three Children: Randy Tyler, Jimmy Tyler & Doris Locklear.
Doc leaves to cherish his memory, Five sons: Kahn Locklear (Lauren), Billy Mills (Janice), Ricky Tyler, Rusty Tyler and Larry Hunt. One Daughter: Vicky Tyler. One Brother: Wheeler Oxendine (Ann), Brother in law: William Lowery Jr, Sister in law: Sylvia Oxendine. Two grand-daughters that he raised as his very own: Terica and Alesha. Twenty One grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren including his special girls: Jordyn, Karrien, Kiyia, Ebony and Kaylee. and His special Cousin: Edward (Peanut) Oxendine.
Doc worked at The Victory Racing Plate Company in Rosedale, MD making horseshoes. He was a member of South Broadway Baptist Church where he was Deacon, a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Brotherhood and worked as the custodian. He loved to watch racing, boxing and listen to gospel music.
Family will receive visitors at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road, on Wednesday from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM. A service to celebrate Doc's life will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
