Robert francis Ewing

Robert Francis Ewing, 75, of Baltimore, Maryland, died peacefully on Friday, November 13, 2020, at Oak Leaf Manor, Landisville, Pennsylvania, after a short stay.

Bob was born on September 6, 1945, in Baltimore to Katherine Maloy and George Ewing, both deceased.

Bob's time as a Baltimore City Police officer was cut short due to medical reasons after being struck by a car directing traffic at a fatal accident on the Hanover Street bridge, leading to his early retirement. Being a police officer in his home town of Baltimore was something Bob took tremendous pride in. He would always tell great stories of his time as an officer. Bob went on to become a lieutenant with the Maryland Jockey Club, serving at Pimlico, Laurel, Bowie, and Timonum race tracks. Perhaps this is where his love for betting started - even in his last days, Bob would reminisce on his time at the tracks!

Bob not only had a love for gambling, but he loved to fish in the Chesapeake Bay and spend time down the ocean with his family. He would frequent Ocean City, Maryland, where he also spent time as a young boy renting umbrellas to beach goers during the day and sleeping under the boardwalk at night!

Bob is survived by his children Lois Broughman, Samantha Ewing, and Griffin Ewing; seven grandchildren and one grandchild due in May 2021; one great-grandchild; sister Alice Leatherwood; brothers Patrick Ewing and Lawrence Ewing; God-daughter Kathy Hannigan; pet dog Missy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Bob is predeceased by his oldest daughter, Stacey Markwordt; brother James Ewing; sister Regina Rosenberger; nephew Patrick Rosenberger; and pet dog Pierre.

The family would like to thank Bob's God-daughter, Kathy Hannigan, for the time she spent with him during his dementia struggle. Kathy was Bob's go-to, and though it wasn't always ideal, she always had time for her Uncle Bob. Her unwavering Faith surely helped him in his later years. We are also thankful to Bob's ex-wife, Patti Ewing, for helping to take care of him during his stay in Pennsylvania. Her compassion to him was seen by all and very much appreciated.

Visitation will be at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Road, Dundalk, MD 21222, on Friday, November 20, 2020, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
