Robert John Nace

Robert Nace, 91, passed away on August 29, 2023, at the Masonic Home in Cockeysville, MD. He was born on February 27, 1932 in Baltimore, MD, to Milton Nace and Anna Nace, both deceased.

Robert worked as a Machinist at the Bethlehem Steel Plant for over 45 years until he retired. During that time he invented a unique buffing machine and received a patent for it that Bethlehem Steel further developed. Robert is predeceased by his wife, Marie Nace. He served in the Navy in the 1950's.

Robert is survived by Richard Nace - son, Stephen Nace - son, Robert Nace - son, Eileen Nace - daughter-in-law, Denise Nace - daughter-in-law, Nadine Nace - daughter-in-law, Laura Nace - granddaughter, Ryan Nace - grandson, Brad Wiatrowski - grandson, Matthew Wiatrowski - grandson, Ahna Hopper - great-granddaughter, Perry Hopper - great-grandson, Hayden Wiatrowski - great-granddaughter, and Steven Wiatrowski - great-grandson.

Robert will be remembered for his patience (he put up with us a long time), his humor (he always had a smile and loved to tell "Dad jokes"), his music (he only knew three or four chords on his guitar but boy he knew how to make people happy with them and when he passed the chaplain and music therapist were singing to him), his selflessness (even when he was in a wheelchair he wanted to know how to help), and his goodness. He loved to fish when he could but spent a lot of his time visiting assisted living homes and senior centers where he would play his guitar and sing with the residents.

A private graveside service will be scheduled in September or October at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made in Robert's name to LymeDisease.org.
