Bob was a 55-year Legion member but started with the Legion many years before his joining the Legion. Bob was an SAL member by the service of his father Steven Redyk. According to the SAL records, Bob served as the first Detachment Commander in 1964-1966. Bob joined the Legion in 1967 and was active in many aspects. Bob was the only Legionnaire and Son to serve as Commander in both the Sons of the American Legion and the Department of the American Legion for the state of Maryland. Bob was elected Department Commander on July 15, 1988 and served until July 14, 1989. Bob was very active in his love of Baseball and served as the Dept. Bob currently was our most Senior Past Department and Past Detachment Commander. In addition, Bob’s dedication to his community lead him to become a detective for the Baltimore County Police Department from where he retired. His wise counsel and advice will be missed by us all.
