Thomas D. Nevin Sr., 81, of Dundalk, Maryland succumbed to a stroke on December 21, 2021. At his bedside were his two sons, Thomas Jr., and Sean.
Tom is survived by his wife Linda of 56 years, sons Thomas Jr. and Sean, daughters-in-laws, Dede and Jennifer, and his grandchildren, Sarah, and Timothy. Tom was pre-deceased by his brother Patrick and sister, Ruth.
Tom was a devoted fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles, and he especially enjoyed watching Maryland Terps basketball on television.
Tom served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany where he developed a lifelong interest in the language and culture. After being honorably discharged from active duty in 1963 and serving an additional two years in the Army Reserve, Tom joined the Baltimore City Police Department where he served as a patrolman and then as a detective in the vice, narcotics, and robbery divisions. He retired as a sergeant.
He graduated from Essex Community College in 1974 and the University of Baltimore in 1976 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
After retiring from the police department, Tom realized his dream of being a business owner when he opened Light Street Station Pub in Federal Hill. He grew the business into three successful bars in Baltimore. Tom could frequently be seen (and heard) singing karaoke at his bar Nevin’s Cross Street Station and doling out shots of viticus. Tom subsequently sold the bars to spend more time with his family. Tom spent his final years caring for his ailing wife, Linda.
The family will receive friends at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk, 7110 Sollers Point Rd. on Monday from 3-5 & 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, 11am at St. Rita's Catholic Church, 3 Dunmanway, Dundalk, MD 21222. Interment will be held on January 4th, 10:45 am at Crownsville Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 1122 Sunrise Beach Rd, Crownsville, MD 21032.
